Dr Melita recommends that her patients should visit the dentist once every 6 months. Regular visits allow the dentist to find early signs of disease and treat problems before they become serious.

Depending on the condition of your teeth and any pre-existing conditions you may have, this time period may need to be adjusted.

If you miss your 6 monthly appointment we would send you another reminder 12 months after your last visit to M.A.Dental.

Thanks to technological advancements the field of cosmetic dentistry, tooth whitening treatment can now be performed by your dental hygienist and dental therapist along with your dentist. At M.A. Dental, we can perform external bleaching, which is achieved by placing bleaching gel on the external surface of your teeth.

Take home bleaching is similar to the over the counter kits, but with two main differences. Firstly, your dentist custom makes the whitening mouth guards so that they fit your teeth precisely. Secondly, the bleaching gel may be stronger which sometimes gives better results. Your dentist will provide you with bleaching gel and instructions on how to use it. The mouth trays should be worn for 30 minutes to one hour each day, for around five days.

Possible side-effects of home bleaching can sometimes include tooth sensitivity and gum irritation. Also, the long-term effects of using these techniques aren’t known. Home bleaching is only recommended when done in consultation with your dentist.

Preventative dentistry involves the maintenance of your teeth and mouth to prevent dental problems from occurring. Our team here at M.A. Dental, utilise the latest technology to prevent minor problems in teeth that could lead to severe tooth decay and tooth loss. Preventive care also involves the care and treatment of gums and the prevention of gum disease.
